Anne Nickel received the first star of the game and Paige Campbell received the MVP of the tournament game.  Great work girls.

The girls went back to the ice only a few hours later against the Lambeth Lancers.  The first 2 periods were scoreless.  However, the third period saw the Aces come back with energy.  The Lancers started the scoring in the third, but in less than 1 minute, Olivia Rau put one past the Lancers goalie, with an assist by Aveleen Flood to tie it up.  Aveleen Flood scored the winner which was her 50th goal of the season by a pass from Olivia Rau and Kenleigh Soper.  The Aces finished the game with a 2-1 win.

Aveleen Flood received the first star of the game award and Olivia Rau received the MVP of the tournament game.  Well deserved.

The Aces returned to the ice on Saturday against the Chatham Outlaws.  Although the girls worked hard against the Outlaws, this game didn’t see the momentum that the Aces can display.  They ended up in a loss of 6-2.  Goals were scored by Stephanie Tsaltas and Aveleen Flood.  Assists to Katie Antonio, Devan Taylor, Paige Campbell, and McKenzie Parsons.

Katie Antonio received the first star of the game and Julia McCann received the MVP of the tournament game.  Great defensive efforts girls.

On Sunday, the girls went into the championship game against the Chatham Outlaws.  The Aces were ready to play.  They played hard for the entire game.  There was no doubt, these girls wanted the gold medal.

At the end of the second period, the Aces were down 2-0.  The girls didn’t give up and their perseverance continued.  With less than 11 minutes to go in the third period, Aveleen Flood scored 2 unassisted goals to narrow the gap to 3-2.  With just under 5 minutes in the game, Tessa Burdett scored an unassisted goal to tie the game.  This took the girls into a 5 minute overtime period of 3 on 3 play.  Unfortunately, the Lancers put a high riser past the Aces goaltender to end the game in a 4-3 loss for the Aces.

The girls never gave up in the 3 periods of play and demonstrated amazing teamwork, sportsmanship and pride.  Well done girls!

McKenzie Parsons received the first star of the game and Tessa Burdett received the MVP of the tournament game.

The girls will meet Mitchell Meteors on Saturday for their last game of regular season.
