The Stratford Cooper Standard Bantam B Aces
took another step closer to earning a berth at Provincials on Saturday. The
Aces won an afternoon game at the Allman Arena against the Mitchell Meteors.
Meredith MacMillan opened the scoring in the first period on a brilliant, un-assisted end-to-end rush. Abby Debus added a second Aces goal, assisted by Jessica Blowes, with 12 seconds left in the first.
Mitchell closed the gap to 2 to 1 in the second period but the line Aces bounced right back 25 seconds later. Joanna Van De Walle found the back of the net with assists being awarded to her line mates Madi McKinley and Rachel Nash.
The lone goal of the third period was the second goal of the afternoon scored by Debus, again assisted by Blowes.
Goaltender Shayla Brooks played a strong game between the pipes in earning the 4 to 1 victory.
