The Stratford Cooper Standard Bantam B Aces
earned another “W” on Friday night with an impressive road win against the
Mitchell Meteors.
Both teams were penalized early and often but even with the large number of power play situations the goaltenders owned the opening period.
Early in the second period Aces defenseman Avery Boyes, normally known for her steady defensive play, broke the stalemate when her wrist shot from just inside the blue line found a top corner. Still in the second period Jessica Blowes stretched the Stratford lead with her goal assisted by Stacey Shackleton and Jenna Akroyd-Snider.
Joanna Van De Walle scored the final Aces goal in the third period with Blowes collecting her second point of the night on the play.
Goaltender Sommer English earned the 3 – 0 shutout win in the Aces net.
