A Tale of Two Different Teams
It's win or be eliminated for the Stratford Cooper Standard Bantam B Aces after the first two games of their playoff series against the Kincardine Kinucks this past weekend.
The Aces lost Game 1 on home ice on Saturday by a final score of 4 to 1.
Kincardine scored a pair of goals in both the first and third periods. Abby Debus scored from Rachel Nash and Katie Berg on what would be Stratford’s lone tally mid way through the second period.
Sunday saw a very different Aces team on the road in Kincardine.
The Kinucks again opened the scoring, this time just 11 seconds into the game.
From that point on Stratford dominated the game.
Scoring chances against were all but eliminated with goaltender Shayla Brooks facing a game total of 8 shots. Stratford recorded 21 shots on net but it took until the middle of the third period for one of those shots to find the back of the net. Rachel Nash scored the equalizer assisted by Joanna Van De Walle.
5 out of 5 people surveyed thought the Aces deserved a better fate than the tie they ended up with when the final buzzer sounded.
Game 3 in this 4 point series takes place Wednesday at the Dufferin Arena with Kincardine leading 3 points to 1.
