Peewee B’s Have Difficult Day in Cambridge The All Equip Peewee B Aces gave it all they had at the Cambridge Roadrunners 21st Annual Tournament but came up just short in two games for a chance at a medal. In their first game of the day against the Sudbury Wolves the Aces had no answer for the eventual tourney champions. Playing a hard checking style the outsized Aces were overpowered by the Wolves and went down to a 2-0 defeat. With this loss the Aces still ended up second in their pool and by virtue of this position ended up in the semi finals against the Lakeshore Lightning. In the second game of the day for the Aces they played all out. They gave the Lightning everything they could handle in skating them to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. Scoring was Ryley Jacobs from Jessie Hahn. The Aces had multiple great chances in the third including many on an end of game 5 on 3. Under the rules of this tourney it went directly to a shootout. Both first shooters missed. The second shooters both scored with Mihret Eliasziw putting a great dangle deke on the Lightning goalie. The Aces third shooter failed to score and the Lightning shooter scored despite a great effort to stop the puck by Emma Ivey. This loss sent the Aces to the bronze medal game. For the third game of the day the All Equip Peewee B’s came out skating hard and firing everything they could at the Waterloo Ravens. Despite going down 2-0 by the mid point of the second the Aces kept their effort up and shortly after the Ravens second goal the Aces were rewarded when Amelie Saunders skated through both teams and put a beauty of a backhander in the Waterloo net. The third period saw the Ravens score what proved to be the game winner. Shortly after this Hailey Walsh scored on a rebound from a great chance by Mihret Eliasziw. The Aces kept coming on and had multiple shots on the Raven netminder but could not put it by. The All Equip Peewee B Aces should hold their heads high for great efforts over the weekend but especially in the two final games of their tourney. What a difference one goal could have made!
