NotesPeewee B Aces 1-1 After Day One
The All Equip Peewee B Aces have started 1-1 in the Cambridge Roadrunners 21st Annual Tournament.
In play this morning the Aces took a couple of shifts to get the legs moving. Once started though the Peewee B’s got down to their style of hockey, forechecking, forechecking and more forechecking. If not for the Niagara Rapids goalie the score would have leaned much more in favour of the Aces. As it was the Aces had many quality shots but could only squeeze 4 past the goalie. Emma Ivey allowed nothing past.
The first period and a half went scoreless until Jessie Hahn broke loose in the second and scored a great breakaway goal. This was unassisted.
In the third period the Aces had overwhelmed the Rapids somewhat and scored 3 more goals. These were scored by Ryley Jacobs, Mihret Eliasziw, and Faith Binns. Gaining assists on these goals were Chloe Bannon, Makena Kyer, Mia Kuepfer, and Anika Akroyd-Snider.
Emma Ivey was MVP of this game.
Game two of the day was against the Lakeshore Lightning. In what was a defensive game the teams only had three total shots in the first period. On a breakaway in the second the Lightning went up 1-0. The Aces tried but could not get an equalizer even though they doubled the Lightning shot total in the third period.
