A Little GRRR Gets The Aces the Win
On Monday night in Strathroy the Peewee B Aces won 2-0 against the Blue Water Hawks.
This league playoff game started off with the Hawks coming on hard for the first couple shifts but the All Equip Aces soon took control. For the first time in a long time the Aces fired more shots at the opposing net.
Playing a determined forechecking style the Aces had many sustained periods of play in the offensive zone. With a short bench the coaches moved Anika Akroyd-Snider to forward which paid off as she scored the winning goal early in the third. Her goal was assisted by Amelie Saunders and Mihret Eliasziw and was a direct result of Akroyd-Sniders relentless play.
The second goal was an empty netter by Jessica Rae. Even though it was into an empty net it was great to see J Rae score after firing so many shots from the point toward the net.
Hopefully this great team effort continues on Wednesday in Komoka.
