Aces Bring Home Silver
The Strickland Toyota Stratford Atom C Aces participated at the Madness in the Valley tournament in Nottawasaga. Coming off a couple of tough games, the team played the entire tournament with emotion and energy resulting in a silver medal.

The girls started the tournament facing a higher category team from Oakville. Regardless of playing up a category, the girls put on perhaps the best overall team effort of the season. The final score of 4-1 for Oakville was not representative of the game played. The Aces goal was scored by Clara Schuster, assisted by Megan Bach and Nicole Hahn.

In the second game, Stratford continued its good play beating the Zorra Fusion. The girls came out strong setting the pace with Ella Smith scoring in the first minute of play. The pressure continued with goals from Grace Glosnek and Alexa Hahn. Meg Feore and Lexi White provided the assists for the goals. The Strickland Toyota Aces started to find their game rhythm with precise puck movement by Brooklyn Chadwick and Lauren Dekok.

The third game found the Aces up against the Mount Forest Rams, who were undefeated in round robin play. The girls played a great game but couldn’t produce any goals. The opposition was kept at bay with good defensive hockey by Hailey Scott, Belle Houle and Avery Nickel who played exceptionally well stopping the other team every opportunity they could.

The finals found the girls back up against the Mount Forest Rams. The action was intense with no goals scored in the first period due to the heroics of Keira Akey in net. A couple of penalties in the second prevented the Aces from gaining any momentum. Although the offensive play of Lauren Martin and Emma Blowes was relenting, the Aces came up short losing 2-0. A great weekend was had by all.
