Positive Showing for Atom BB Aces at OWHA Provincials
The Stratford Egg Farmers of Ontario Atom BB Aces girls completed this past weekend in North York for the OWHA provincial championship and came away with a very positive showing.

In the first game of round robin play, the Atom BB girls played the North Simcoe Capitals.  Despite a slow start, the girls were able to find their skating legs in the second and third periods and dominated to earn a 5-2 victory. Aces goals were scored by Lauren Taylor, Avery Wildgust (2), Jordie Smith, and Olivia Harding.  The assists were credited to Reese Reinecker, Anna Tigani, Arianna Catalan, and Ashley Hodgson.

The second game of round robin play saw the girls matched up against a talented Niagara Rapids team.  The girls were able to compete with the Rapids for the first two periods but had a couple of defensive break downs in the third period which allowed the Rapids to secure a 5-2 win.  Goals were scored by Olivia Harding and Lauren Taylor. Assists were credited to Jordie Smith, Arianna Catalan, Madison Cardno, and Olivia Chartrand.

In the third and final game of round robin play, the Egg Farmers needed to come away with a win to ensure a spot in quarter final action.  The girls came out hard and applied relentless pressure in the first period, but were unable to capitalize.  In the second and third periods the girls were able to control most of the play and came away with a dominate 3-0 victory.  Goals were scored by Avery Wildgust, Reese Reinecker, and Olivia Harding. Assist were credited to Reinecker, Anna Tigani, and Wildgust.  Courtney Lott was between the pipes for the shut-out.

With high hopes of entering semi-final action, the Aces found themselves matched up against a gritty Oakville Hornets team.  Despite not having their best game the girls tried hard to grind out a win, but came up just short with a 3-1 loss.  The lone goal was scored by Lauren Taylor, assisted by Chelsea Savelle.

Notable mentions to Jesse Dietrich, Addison Moir, and Lauren Gibb on strong tournament play.
