Vancea Financial Peewee C's Brantford tournament
The Aces Peewee C team made it to semi-finals in the Brantford Girls Hockey tournament this past weekend. Losing the semi-final to the eventual tournament winners.


The Peewee C Aces went undefeated in the round robin of the Brantford Tournament this past weekend…making it to the semi-finals.


The Aces faced off against East Lambton Eagles on Friday (Feb. 21)..

The game would be close with opportunities for both sides.

The Eagles would score early in the third period to take a 0-1 lead…however some great passing from Ryley Jacobs to Faith Binns over to Jessie Hahn who scored mid way through the third period to tie the game.
The game would end in the 1-1 tie.


On early Saturday, the Aces met up with the Grosse Pointe Bulldogs.

Two goals mid way through the first period from Ryley Jacobs and Joselyn Burdett with assists by Jillian Pitts, Kate Schneider and Victoria Hahn would give the Aces a 2-0 lead.

Early the second period some passing from Schneider to Rebekkah Phibbs and to Madison McKinley would produce another goal..making it a 3-0 lead. A few minutes later some good passing from McKinley to Jacobs would give the Aces a dominate lead of 4-0.

The third period the Aces would continue the attack with goals from McKinley and Victoria Hahn and assists from Pitts, Schneider, Phibbs and Rachel Nash.

The Aces would walk away with a solid 6-0 win- goalie Julia Bouwman would take the shut out.

Later Saturday, the Aces would meet the rough and tough Sudbury Wolves.

With only 30 seconds off the clock in period one, Rachel Nash  from Victoria Hahn and McKinley, would give the Aces a 1-0 lead.

The Wolves would score mid first period to tie the game.
After two more periods and some tough battling for the puck..the Aces managed to hold off the Wolves ending with a 1-1 tie game.
This allowed the Aces to move into fourth place of the large ten team grouping- moving them to a semi-final game.

The Sunday morning semi-final game would have the Aces battle the Gloucester Cumberland girls hockey team.

The teams faced off with some tough battles..however the Gloucester team would get two goals to give the Aces their first loss of 0-2 for the tournament and knock them out of the final game.

 

A great effort by all the players- those listed above and the entire team with some excellent forward moves by Chloe Bannon and defensive plays by Jessica Rae, Lauren Steel and Natalie Weinheimer.
