Silver Lining for Novice C Aces
The Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice C Aces finished the 18th Annual Woodstock Wildcats Girls Hockey this past weekend as silver medalists. The weekend started off with a strong 3-1 victory over the home team. Megan Bach put in Stratford's first goal to tie the game at the end of the first period. Anna Tigani scored the eventual go-ahead goal with eight minutes remaining in the third, with Olivia Harding putting the game out of reach for Woodstock a couple of minutes later.

In the second game of the day, the girls played to a tough 3-1 loss to the Petrolia Oilers. Defensive efforts by Nicole Hahn and Avery Nickel kept the game in check. The lone goal by Stratford came from Olivia Harding.
Saturday found the girls up against the Lambeth Lancers and they played to an exciting 3-0 win. Goals were scored by Clara Schuster, Megan Bach and Olivia Harding.
To ensure a spot in the finals, the girls needed a big performance on Sunday morning and they did just that.  The Perth Auto Dismantlers played the Waterloo Ravens to a 2-0 victory. Sienna Wildgust registered a well earned shutout in the game with Anna Tigani and Megan Bach taking care of the offence.
The finals found the girls against the only team to beat them on the weekend: the undefeated Petrolia Oilers. Although the underdogs, the girls played their hearts out the entire game giving fans an incredible show.  In the second period, down by one goal, Anna Tigani took the bull by the horns placing a perfect shot into the back of the net to tie the game up.  The Oilers came right back scoring a goal before the end of the second. The third period found an incredible back and forth battle with Anna Tigani scoring her second goal of the game at 2:21 breaking the sea-saw battle forcing an overtime period to decide a winner.  The OT continued just as the game had been played in the third period with both teams not giving up an inch. Petrolia finally squeaked one by Sienna Wildgust for the victory.  Noteworthy on defence was Brooklyn Chadwick who made many timely plays to keep the players in the offensive zone.  Coach Joe stated "the girls came together as a team this weekend; each and everyone of them played an important role in making the finals.  The coaching staff is very proud of what the girls accomplished!"
