Bantam A's Reach Semis
The Accumetal Bantam A's participated at the Etobicoke, Pink The Rink, tourny this past weekend advancing into the semi-final match on Sunday. Despite a strong first period against the Hamburg Hawks from NY, Stratford was not able to generate much offense and had a difficult time defending their strong forwards in the second and third periods succumbing to four unanswered goals.
In round robin action, Stratford faced off against what turned out to be tournament champions, Sudbury Lady Wolves, fighting to a 1 -1 tie. Erin Kuepfer drew first blood scoring off a feed from Jocelyn Ballantyne. Faith Flanagan earned the other assist. Aliya McNeil had a strong game in net as did Alicia Hartung and Tessa Deighton on defense. In game two the Aces saw action against the Hawks earning the teams second tie in the tourny, 2 -2. Flanagan made no mistake with a shot beating the Hawk goaltender, Kuepfer earned her second of the tournament with assists given to Ballantyne and Flanagan. Rylee Kaufman was solid in net for Stratford in her first game back. Game three saw Stratford defeat North Halton Twisters 3 - 2. Liv Charette, Grace Fountain and Flanagan were goal scorers with assists from Leah Matthews, Kaitlyn Matheison, Anna Mohr and Alicia Young.
