Atom Aces bring home Silver Medal
After a long 2 week layoff, the Stratford Atom Aces sponsored by the Egg Farmers of Ontario, played in the Guelph Storm Tournament this past week-end and were excited to bring home the silver medal!

The girls started out a little rusty and played North Halton on Friday afternoon. They hung on to a 1-1 tie, with the goal being scored by Mikayla Flanagan. On Saturday, the girls battled hard, but ended up losing to Kitchener 2-0, and then lost to the host team Guelph 1-0. Even though the Aces only accumulated 1 point with their tie, the pool play allowed them to move on to the semi final game on Sunday morning where they were up against Whitby. The Aces dominated this game and came away with a 3-0 win. Tori Gavin scored the first, and then Madison Smith added two of her own in the last minute of the third period. The win moved the girls into the final game, where they came up against the Kitchener Lady Rangers for the second time in the tournament. The Aces, Christena Downey, scored in the first period, but the girls could not answer back to Kitchener's 3 goals in the second and third. Stratford goalie, Skyler Stockie played outstanding throughout the entire tournament, and helped give the Aces a fighting chance. All the girls played extremely well, in the semi final and final games and should be proud of the silver medal they brought home.
