Busy Week-end for the Atom A's
The girls capped off a busy week-end with a well deserved and long awaited win on Sunday!! We started off on Friday night with a trip to Cambridge, where they battled to a 0-0 tie against the first place Roadrunners. The entire team played extremely well, and proved they could contend with the division leaders.
On Saturday, the ladies played host to the Mississauga Chiefs. Both teams were held scoreless until the third period when Christena Downey put one in for Stratford. After a brief lapse in the Stratford end, the Chiefs scored two quick goals, ending the game in a 2-1 loss for the Aces.
On Sunday morning, the girls came back strong, and played a very aggressive game against the North Halton Twisters. Madison Smith started off the scoring for Stratford with a nice goal in the first period, assisted by Tori Gavin. In the second, Mikayla Flanagan put another in the net helped by Ryley Jacobs and Smith with her second point of the game. North Halton came back with a goal in the second, but the Aces held on until Jillian Mair put one in from the point into the empty net to secure the win for the Aces.
Keep up the great work girls.....it is starting to pay off.
