First Regular Season Win!!!
The Atom A Aces, sponsored by the Egg Farmers of Ontario, recorded their first regular season win Saturday night in Guelph. The strong Guelph team scored early in the first period, but then the Stratford girls rallied back late in the second, with a goal by Brooklyn Rau. Shortly after that, Christena Downey tipped in a shot, to record the Aces second goal.
The Guelph team pulled out all the stops late in the third period and pulled their goalie for the extra man advantage, and then when the Aces were handed a penalty with only 1:50 left in the game, it seemed the girls were doomed, however a strong Stratford defense led by Tarha Keen and Abby Gilchrist, held off the Guelph team, and Aces goalie Skyler Stockie made some key saves during a number of scrambles in front of the net. The end result was a 2-1 win for the Aces!! Come and watch the Aces in action, this Sunday, Oct 30 when they play host to Oakville at 10:00am at the Allman arena.
