Lady Aces are SOWHL Champs!
The Stratford Kinsmen Senior Aces claimed their well deserved championship title Sunday afternoon. The Aces battled to a 6-3 win over the Lucknow Legends to finish their season with a 16-4-4 record.
Stratford struck first, less than 3 minutes into the first period, when Katie MacSorley went end to end on a breakout pass from Janelle Krug. The Legends tallied one while MacSorley notched 2 more, with assists from Canal & Van Klooster, before the periods end.
Lucknow answered back early, scoring only 9 seconds into the second period. The Lady Aces battled hard, with the Parsons, Downham, Boersen line fore checking relentlessly, but the score remained 3-2. 5 minutes into the third, Courtney Canal capitalized on a turnover, putting the Aces up 4-2. The Legends answered back, but MacSorley scored 2 more before the final buzzer; including an empty netter that put an end to the Legends campaign.
This is the Lady Aces first SOWHL championship title since joining the league 7 years ago.
